Welcome Address – Korea Clinical Datathon 2025
Welcome message for the Korea Clinical Datathon 2025
Greetings
Dear participants,
It is a great honor to invite you to this event jointly hosted by Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The Korea Clinical Datathon, now in its fourth iteration, continues to build on the strong foundation laid since 2018.
This year, 2025, is especially meaningful. We have entered a new era where the responsible use of AI agents has become a central question for both medicine and society. At this Datathon, we invite you not only to hack data but also to explore the potential and responsibilities of AI agents in healthcare. To support this, we have prepared several tools: MIT’s M3 agent, as well as Korea’s Vital Copilot and Research AI, all designed to demonstrate how agents can augment clinical and research workflows in trustworthy ways.
In addition, we are proud to announce the first public release of the K-MIMIC multi-center critical care dataset, the result of years of preparation and collaboration across Korean hospitals. Together with datasets for large language models, this release will provide participants with unprecedented opportunities to explore cutting-edge AI applications in medicine.
The Datathon is not just a competition but a three-day festival to be shared together. Medical professionals, data scientists, engineers, and experts from diverse fields will gather in one place for deep collaboration, innovation, and friendship. It will also be an invaluable opportunity to gain new insights and connect with mentors from both Korea and abroad.
The organizing committee will do its utmost to support participants in hacking medicine with creative and responsible ideas. We sincerely hope that Korea Clinical Datathon 2025 will be remembered as a milestone where participants not only created solutions but also reflected on the future of responsible AI in healthcare.
Once again, we warmly welcome all participants. May this event be a place of hacking, learning, reflection, and enjoyment for everyone!
Thank you.
